Ideologies

This is just a simple guide to your party. Whether you're founding a party, voting or joining, you make it as accurate as you can to your beliefs. Let's start off simple.

Capitalism: This is the idea of, if you work hard enough you can achieve anything! You work a bad job? Work harder! You'll earn more and you can go on to do great things! Those rich rockstars? Well this is your chance to be one!

Socialism: This is the idea of, all production, distribution and wealth should be controlled by the community. E.G, James Connolly's famous saying "The Irish People Will Only Be Free When They Own Everything From The Ploughs To The Stars!"

Democracy: This is normally intertwined into a parties beliefs e.g Democratic Socialism. This ideology supports everyone's right to choose who they want to lead them via regularly held elections!

Dictatorship: This is when there is only one leading party/person. They have managed to take away the rights of an election. It's either be happy with them in power or move out (if possible).

Anarchism: belief in the abolition of all government and the organization of society on a voluntary, cooperative basis without recourse to force or compulsion.

Libertarianism: An easy going political belief which advocates only minimal state intervention in the lives of citizens

Republicanism: The belief that you shall live in a country with its own government rather than a monarchy.

Monarchy: Self explanatory. You believe a King/Queen/Royal Family should govern your country and you may wish to install such a monarchy yourself.

Totalitarianism: a system of government that is centralized and dictatorial and requires complete subservience to the state.

Liberalism: A belief system that is based around worldwide liberty and equality for all.

Conservatism: A belief system that shows commitment to traditional values and ideas with opposition to change or innovation. It also encourages private ownership.

Absolutism: A belief system that encourages the holding of absolute principles in political, philosophical, or theological matters.

Some Forms of Corruption & Reprecussions

Let's say you're a politician. You decide you need to get/maintain power anyway possible! Whether this be having another member of the senate killed or blackmailed etc. (Please remember this is a roleplay. If you're caught doing something rumors can start! And they can tarnish a reputation)

Conspiracy to assassinate a political rival: The name says it all! You need power and you may lose the election. In your depraved mind this is the best course of action. You attempt to hire a contract killer! But oh no! It's a sting operation and you've been arrested for Conspiracy! Not only will the individual be arrested and disqualified from the election but this can seriously tarnish that politician's reputation. After all who wants a known psychopath as a leader?

Being caught with known organisations that commits illicit activities: Not corruption persé but have fun explaining that to the press if they catch you! They can say what they want and you can't stop them. Say you talk to a known drug dealer who runs a cartel? "Senator On Crack?" Yea. Not fun. Of course rumors can spread from this. And it may tarnish your reputation or even your parties reputation and upon that they have every right to expel you. And being a "Former Senator who was apparently on crack" doesn't get you far with the ladies.

Blackmail: This is simple. You don't want to be caught looking for intel so you outsource the work. Something just as risky. You can happily get people to look for intel that can ruin a fellow politicians reputation and hold it against them. But don't be surprised if the people you hire turn on you and leak your nefarious affairs. This can easily tarnish your reputation as not only a politician but also a human. Not many like people that turn out to be "Snakes"

Privatised Ownership: This is when a politician has managed to acquire power in a private sector e.g Trump with Trump Towers. This can be used against the politician as people can say he/she is manipulating the market to make his/her sector to make themselves wealthier.

Being Elected To Municipal Districts

So. You're living up in Blaine County, and you decided to run in your local election and won! Congratulations you are now on the Municipal District of Blaine County.

Your job while a member of the Municipal District is to allocate funds equally among other town representitives, make decisions should there be a toll somewhere? Stuff like that. You must try your best to make life for the people of your town just a little bit better.

Every year the municipality will be budgeted a certain amount of money, so while remaining in that budget you must do whats best for your town (the districts will be: Sandy Shores and Paleto Bay)

To make it on the municipality you must win a local election with your party. Your party will act as half the Blaine County Council (but due to its size we are calling it a Municipal District) and like any council, you will pick who from your party will join you on that council. You and the other party elected must work together to improve Blaine County, this is to ensure that not one person/party has too much power.

Being Elected in Los Santos

So you ran for a local election in Los Santos and won. Congratulations you now sit on the Los Santos County Council. This works very similarly if not the exact same to the Blaine County Municipal Districts. Except it will more than likely bring you more of a reputation, and with a bigger reputation the more you have to lose so you best do your job well. Remember Los Santos is the hub of San Andreas and will probably home the majority of the population so you have alot riding on you.

However, you're in Los Santos, not Blaine County so you have more responsibilities. Due to the sheer size alone you have a bigger budget which you must allocate correctly. Roadworks, School funding, infrastructure, hospital funding etc.

You will probably also be the go to person for statements and so on, and therefore you will be a lot busier with the press so be sure to stay in line or be good at hiding what you're not meant to be doing.

Being On The Senate

So, you ran for State Senate and you won! Congratulations. You are now representing your party with a handful of those you choose to join you from your party on a statewide level!

On the Senate you also have new responsibilities. Here you will discuss the budgets for the City Council of Los Santos and the Municipal Districts of Blaine County.

Now say a high profile shooting happens! The Senate will talk about gun control for example and lets say they wish to implement a new law, they can try. They will discuss what they think needs to be done and reach a compromise if multiple parties with differing views sit on the senate. And lets say they wanted to outlaw semi automatic firearms. That would then become a bill, which would later be passed onto Congress. If a bill is proposed but scrapped you will have a 6 week waiting time before proposing it again.

While on the Senate you can be a very high profile person for the media and they may want interviews often so you best be prepared and patient constantly while in this position. You obviously will also have an increased wage than those on the councils.

Being A Member of Congress

To become a member of congress you can not run in an election for this position. You must be elected by the President themselves.

Now believe it or not, you will have an easier time here than anywhere else. Here, you are only expected to meet every so often on assigned dates and discuss the political climate of the US of GTA and if there is any bills from the Senate to be pushed to the president, here you discuss them. You can either deny the bill and send it back to the Senate or accept it and send it up to the President. But keep in mind if a bill is denied twice by Congress then it will be scrapped entirely never to be seen again unless it is once again later proposed.

If you are a member of Congress you will be held to high regard, forget local media. Everything you do will be played Nation wide if its seen as a good enough story to deserve that attention. So your reputation is really on the line here. You mess up once and you and your party can be sent down the drain for a long time to come.

Being President!

Wow! You somehow became President! You waited patiently in the Senate or Congress or maybe both for 6 months and you entered as a candidate to become president. And you somehow won. Well buddy we're proud of you!

As a president you will have very important roles. You are the last line of defence on bills. If you agree with it you sign it into power. If not, you scrap it entirely.

A terrorist attack?? Its up to you to call in the National Guard to secure the area.

Congress isn't to your liking? Too bad the most you can do is choose who joins next! But remember seats are limited on Congress so don't go over board nominating/electing people!

You will also decide the budget allocated to the Senate, you will decide the pay of the politicians on each level of the hierarchy! But remember you must always pay more depending on the hierarchy of a person e.g someone on the Senate must make more than the Council and so on.

Good luck, President. Try to do a good job.

Getting Into Politics

Typically - Anyone can get into politics but I'm going to tell you the easiest way to do so which is really just common sense.

First, look at the existing parties, do they suit your beliefs? If yes, you can apply to join a party, each party must have their own application to join. If the party has a fee then and you've been accepted, you pay the fee and the party will issue you with some form of membership card, this will have no photo so don't expect to get into clubs underage you young'ins.

If no party alligns with your beliefs, you can make your own, by going to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties. You fill out the application to form your party then of you're accepted, voila! You're now a politician and can run in elections! Just remember, if you're declined you will have to pay a hefty fee, and if too many parties exist or you have too similar beliefs with maybe a minor difference to another party then you will be declined. For more information check their Rules.
